What’s The Difference between Ghost Hunting and Paranormal Research?

I have been seeing this all over and it’s a good question. Well let’s start with Ghost hunting because it had been made popular by a lot of TV shows.

This should tell you something right from the start, its entertainment. But first let’s first split the two. Hunting is something we as man have been doing since the dawn of time. The cave man would hunt for food, water and of course women (or men, sorry ladies I forgot you hunt too). Ghosts, I think have been around as long. Now from what I can see or read the two got together somewhere in the dark ages. At that time it was mostly people walking around in the dark getting scared and telling others about it (it was hard to take a picture with oil paint and canvas). When cameras came along Ghost Hunting made a big jump forward. You still walked around in the dark and got scared and told all your friends to come over and do the same but now you could take a picture (most were fake but you could take one). In the early 20th century the sprit movement caught on and made Ghost Hunting fun. It became a Big Entertainment Industry. People would travel to see mediums to contact the dead. Most of these mediums were fakes .Harry Houdini spent the last years of his life proving them as fakes. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying all mediums are fake and Ghost Hunting is bad. Its proven fact that people love to be scared, they go to movies, ride wild rides, jump out of perfectly good airplanes, and Hunt ghosts in the dark. As for Paranormal Research, a researcher is not really hunting for haunted locations, We go to locations that people have seen or think they have seen things. Our job is to disprove or prove with science that something is or was happening. Wile we do walk around in the dark we’re using many different types of equipment to capture that one or two things that can scientifically explain what’s happening in the location. Real Paranormal Investigation is a true science and you need to use your investigation skills. It involves making more than one trip to a location and going over hours and hours, ohh did I mention hours of video, audio and pictures. Most of which you have to dismiss because of lighting, weather, and etc. .Just for the off chance you might find something that can’t be disproved. Our job is to help other explain the cause of there paranormal problems, not just sit in the dark waiting to be scared.

Getting back to the question

What’s The Difference between Ghost Hunting and Paranormal Research?

I guess it comes down to intent

Paranormal Investigation & Research is more about trying to help other with problems and to prove something lives on after death.

Wile

Ghost Hunting is more based on your own needs for adventure and entertainment

As for me I love a good roller coaster but I really like to know how and why it works too, Go Science
