What do I need to investigate the Paranormal?

Well the first thing is a open mind and abilty not to feak out at you own shadow.

know you ment Equipment

thats harder

most people want simple, some want high tech and other just don't know what they want

best thing you can do is to start small 

a flashlight (one with a red lens is better helps keep your night vision)

a good digital camera 6 to 10 meg (if you can find one that works in low or no light is better, also if the camera can use AA batterys its a big plus then you can still use reg.batts when your rechargables run out in the middle of an investigation and they will trust me i know)( i'm a big fan of olympus and sony) 

a voice recorder  tape or digital (if you can aford one, a digital voice recorders with usb plug are better to transfer EVPs to computers but some people find the RCA ones are hard to transfer)

a compass can be a cheep EMF indecator( if you can aford a good EMF Meter that's better, we can get into that later) (I use a cell sensor that cost 40 bucks)

a Weather Gauge to check temp (you can find some thing simple in most camping stores)

one thing to avoid is pre made kits they cost to much for what you get

try to remember the 2 main rules

1 the KISS rule (Keep It Simple Stupid) and 2 If it sound too good to be true , it most likely is

From there the skys the limit

EMF meters can run fron cheep one for about 20 bucks up to sevral hundred but try to stay under 2 hundred you can get a mel- k2 hybread for $175 dose EMF, K2, temp and has a red light in it ( i use a cell sensor cost 40 bucks works great but i'm geting the mel-K2 just to have EMF & temp in same unit and K2 is good to)

K2 meters most group have at least one(for me they can pick up two way radios, call phonesand etc.)

Ir thermometer non touch form 40 to 200 (cheep & simple is good thay all do temps)

Weather gauge (i love Kestral 3500NVs gives you wind, temp, baro,dewpoint,and so much more)

Ir Cameras  let you take picture in the ir spectrum where it is thought ghost are able to be seen(yes i have one i like it)

Full Spectrum Digital Cameras covers light form the uv side to the ir side

Niteshot camcorder ( i love sony keep in mind for the dv ones you need extra ir light to look good in no light)

ghostbox or franks box(i have one but I am not really carzy about it  you should keep in mind your scaning am or fm radio dial so its hard to prove its not just a picking up the radio )

Dvr systems not really some thing you need for personal use but you can if you want

and that just the start there are so many new things all the time

as for buying personal equipment

I get a lot of stuff from ebay and have used the ghost hunters store online

but keep in mind there are snake oil salesmen out there to sell you things you don't need and things that don't work (aka ovilus ghost box which is 100% scam but was on TV)
